To fine tune Image Source Control, you find the admin panel under Settings > Image Control in the backend of your WordPress-Installation.

The setting page is divided into different logical sections.

How to display source in Frontend

Here you can choose from different methods to display the image source in the frontend automatically.

settings source in frontend

list below the content: Displays a list of image sources below singular pages.

overlay: Display image source as a simple overlay.

Dispite those methods you can still use the manual methods to display image sources and image source lists.

Archive Pages

These settings enable you to display image sources on archive pages, e.g. category pages, front page, etc.

Sources below full posts

Enable this option in case you want to display the full list of image sources on archive pages where the whole content of posts and therefore also all images are being displayed.

Sources below excerpts

Enable this option if you want to list the source of the featured image on post lists that only display the archive.

Keep the following things in mind:

  • even if your theme doesn’t display post thumbnails on archive pages, the source might still be displayed
  • if other parts of your site query the excerpt, the source string might be given by them too. The best way to prevent this is by using the function isc_thumbnail_source()  in your template instead. Find more about the usage of this function here.

List below content

Here you find the settings for image source lists of posts and pages.

Here you find the settings for the image source overlays.

settings image source overlay

Overlay pre-text

Choose a text that should be displayed in front of the source text.

Overlay position

Choose the position where to display the image source overlay.

These are the settings for the list of all image sources.

settings full image list

Use thumbnails in images list and their size

You can enable thumbnails in the complete image list. This will make it more colorful and interesting for visitors. If you activate the display of thumbnails you can also choose the size of the thumbnails. You can either use the default thumbnail sizes defined by WordPress or your theme (thumbnail, medium, large) or define custom thumbnail width and height.

Settings for image licences.

settings image licences

Enable licences

Enabling licences lets you choose a licence for each image.

List of licences

You can manage the available licences yourself by just entering the name and url for one licence per line in the text field. Licences will be linked in the frontend if you entered the url.

Miscellaneous settings

Exclude own images

Check the ”Exclude own images” box to NOT list images marked as being your own in the images lists for posts or the whole site.

Use authors names

If you check this field, the name of the uploader of the image will be shown as the author in image source lists.

Custom text for owned images

If you didn’t choose to display the uploaders name as the copyright owner of an image (see Use authors names), this default text will be shown in the image lists.

Link to webgilde’s website

By checking this option, you display a link below the complete image list (not all image lists on posts and pages, just the main image list, if you use it at all). This will help others to use Image Source Control and is an approval of the plugin authors hard work.

You can choose to see a warning on each admin page when there is at least one image source missing by activating Warning when there is at least one missing source. When activating Warnings when source not available you will receive warnings and be not allowed to save an image, if the source is missing.
